Beginning this weekend, NBC will be promoting the benefits of its NBC Sports Live Extra app. The online home of NBC Sports streams much of its live events from Sunday Night Football (on computers and tablets only), English Premier League, Formula 1, NHL, Olympics, PGA Tour events and other events.

Most of what’s aired live on either NBC broadcast or NBCSN on cable is streamed on the NBC Sports Live Extra app online. Starting today, promos will air all over the NBC Sports universe touting the app with the tagline “NBC Sports Live Extra … anytime, anywhere.”

For those who have the app, it’s very good. NBC and its parent Comcast have put quite an effort to have its properties streamed on the app. Not only are live events streaming there, but Live Extra also gives access to the linear Golf Channel as well as the Dan Patrick Show and some other studio programming.

There will be separate promos showing fans watching the app for the English Premier League, Sunday Night Football and NHL.

In addition to promoting Live Extra on all of NBC’s sports programming, the promos will be seen throughout this month across NBCUniversal’s platforms including Bravo, E!, Syfy and USA.

Multichannel News says NBC Sports Live Extra has garnered big numbers for the Olympics, NFL and the NHL Stanley Cup Final. NBC hopes to make the app an online destination similar to the WatchESPN app.
