The circus that is the Miami Marlins is about to get a little crazier. Team president David Samson will be a cast member on the upcoming season of Survivor, which was filmed last summer in the Philippines. Season 28 of Survivor, entitled Cagayan, is scheduled to premiere in February. Samson is expected to be a part of the "brains" tribe as opposed to either the "beauty" or "brawn" tribes.

This isn't the first time Samson has dabbled in some extracurricular activities. Last September, we brought you the news of Samson playing Lorne Michaels in a play about Saturday Night Live, which premieres at the end of March. Samson's absence over last summer could explain why he was spared in the front office purge that cost Larry Beinfest his job and resulted in Michael Hill and Dan Jennings getting promotions.

Samson also made headlines in October, when he said that the Marlins would make the playoffs in 2014. I'm sure Miami's marketing team is already trying to come up with a tie-in between a possible Samson win on the show and a Marlins World Championship, but I don't think we're going to need to worry about that.

This isn't the first time a Marlin has been on a reality show this year. Earlier this week, Jose Fernandez and some of his teammates made cameo appearances on The Bachelor.
