The meteoric rise of Kevin Burkhardt has continued. Burkhardt, whose solid commentary performance with John Lynch earned the pair an NFL Playoff game in January, will reportedly be the host of the new Fox MLB pregame and postgame show.

While the full talent roster for Fox's new pregame show has yet to be announced, newly-signed Fox analyst Frank Thomas and rising star Gabe Kapler are expected to join Burkhardt on the show, with established Fox Sports 1 anchor Ryan Field serving as Burkhardt's backup.

Thomas is still a question mark, but the pairing of Burkhardt and Kapler already makes Fox's new pregame show worlds better than the MLB Network produced show last year, featuring Matt Vasgersian and new Fox color commentator Harold Reynolds.

Burkhardt will still apparently be working as a roving reporter during Mets games on SNY, but that role almost seems to be a waste of his talent when you consider how much his career has progressed over the last year.
