On Friday, the Houston Astros failed to reach an agreement with top overall pick Brady Aiken by the 5 PM deadline. It’s an embarrassing, potentially disastrous, event that will more than likely haunt the team for quite a while.

Naturally, after news of the failure broke, every baseball reporter across the country began to confirm the initial report by Jim Callis of MLB.com, including CBS’s Jon Heyman.

That…no, that didn’t happen. Aiken, Nix, and Mac Marshall all failed to sign with the team. All you needed was that one little word, Jon: “not”.

To his credit, Heyman later fessed up.
