Icelandic announcer reaches octaves previously unattainable by humans

The European soccer season is already underway and we have a very early contender for goal call of the year.  This clip comes from last month’s Europa League qualifier between Iceland’s Stjarnan and Scotland’s Motherwell and is just now making the rounds online.

Stjarnan defeated Motherwell in extra time of the second leg thanks to Atli Johannsson’s strike in the 113th minute.  The goal itself is remarkable and worthy of winning any match.  But the call, and the way the Icelandic announcer’s voice rises to a level that can break glass, is what truly makes it memorable.

Gus Johnson, eat your heart out.
