With Team USA opening its World Cup schedule against Ghana on Monday, everyone expected American corporations to throw their support behind the Stars and Stripes, and they did.

Delta was one such corporation. Amid the excitement of a thrilling 2-1 victory by the United States, the airline tweeted this graphic of the final score with both countries represented by generic stock photos:

As you can see here in this helpful travel guide, there are no giraffes in Ghana. None. According to the guide:

Yes, you have the ability to visit wildlife in Ghana. But please realize that we are not the destination of choice for a big-time safari adventure.

There are no giraffes or zebras or leopards living anywhere in Ghana. Lions exist here, but you would never see one. However this lack of predators makes for a unique experience because you can safari on foot in Ghana!

It didn’t take long for Delta to cave to public pressure and apologize for the oversight in assuming that all African countries are the same.

You have to think the folks over at US Airways are breathing a little easier now, considering what happened in April (NSFW).
