Sadly for Fox Sports 1, Gabe Kapler was just too good at his job for the network’s good. In a move that has been rumored for some time, ESPN Los Angeles’ Mark Saxon reports Kapler will be joining the Dodgers front office as the team’s farm director.

Kapler immediately shined as the class of Fox Sports 1’s analysts when the network launched last year. After only a few months on the job, he was named one of our Rising Stars in the industry in 2013. His analytic mindset and approach to baseball analysis was one of FS1’s bright spots. He’ll be greatly missed on television, but with his acumen for the game, you knew he wasn’t going to be around for long. The hope for television viewers and baseball fans is that there are more smart and energetic voices to follow in Kapler’s footsteps.
