Nicole Briscoe will continue on with ESPN even after the network’s deal with NASCAR comes to an end. Briscoe has signed a new contract which will place her as an anchor on SportsCenter in addition to taking on other assignments. She previously served as the host of ESPN’s NASCAR Countdown, but with that wrapping up, ESPN elected to give her a new role in order to keep her with the network.

Briscoe commented on her new role:

“I’m very happy with the opportunities that have been presented to me. ESPN is where I want to be, and I’m excited about starting the next chapter of my career as well as a new adventure for my family.

But first, we still have 15 weeks of NASCAR to go and champions to crown.”

It’s nice to see ESPN keep Briscoe around and assign her a new role as her current one expires with ESPN’s NASCAR TV contract moving to NBC. Too often companies will elect to release an employee instead of finding a new role that they may end up thriving in. While Briscoe likely could have found a NASCAR-related role at another network, the opportunity to join the roster of SportsCenter anchors and gain a larger profile at ESPN was too good to pass up.
