In total viewership for its entire week in Prime Time (8 p.m. to 11 p.m.), ESPN (with World Cup match coverage featuring the U.S.) is up 55 percent (1.719 million vs. 1.109 million) from one week earlier and up 82 percent (1.719 million vs. 942,000) from the same week one year ago (June 17-23, 2013).

In total viewership for its entire week in Total Day (6 a.m. to 5:59 a.m.), ESPN (with World Cup match coverage featuring the U.S.) is up 106 percent (1.769 million vs. 859,000) from one week earlier and up 190 percent (1.769 million vs. 610,000) from the same week one year ago (June 17-23, 2013).

Note: World Cup entries on the week’s list also include the network’s pre-match coverage at the starting 30 minutes of each respective match telecast time window.

As noted by Awful Announcing’s Steve Lepore on June 23rd, the Portugal/U.S. match on June 22 delivered a massive audience of 18.2 million viewers (for the match alone; the number on the list above reflects the inclusion of pre-match coverage) — ESPN’s most-watched soccer telecast ever.

Leading out of the Portugal/U.S. World Cup soccer match, ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” drew its largest viewership of the 2014 MLB season to-date with its featured matchup of the Texas Rangers at the L.A. Angels (1.8 household rating/2.892 million viewers).
