Last week, ESPN quietly announced that it had hired Jeremy Fowler away from CBSSports.com to become a Cleveland-based NFL reporter. You might think he’s going to replace someone, however, in the press blurb, ESPN said Fowler would work in concert with current Browns beat reporter Pat McManamon.

Fowler’s primary assignment will be the NFL and will contribute to both TV and radio. But with two Cleveland-based NFL reporters, does this mean one will cover the game and the other be focused on Johnny Manziel?

There is precedence as ESPN hired Brian Windhorst out of Cleveland to follow the Miami Heat and LeBron James, but that only one reporter.

Will we see two stories out of Cleveland for every week’s game with one on the machinations of Johnny Football? That will be answered quite soon.
