We all knew this would happen someday, so this scoop from the Syracuse Post-Standard is no surprise. One day, the chosen one — SI’s Richard Deitsch — would take his talents to Bristol and begin a public relations nuclear arms race unlike which has never been seen before. It would take sports media reporting in an amazingly weird direction.

Sadly, the Syracuse Post-Standard’s a little off in their reporting:

I have so many questions about this story. What show was Beadle not on where she could give “her side of the issue” like “the show usually calls for”? Why is Deitsch’s first name not capitalized? Why all of this?

Many questions, zero answers, but we get a hilarious thing to make fun of in the middle of a slow sports week. Thank you, Syracuse Post-Standard. ESPN, however, might want to consider throwing money at Deitsch so they could stage Rovell-Deitsch mud wrestling every Friday in the courtyard at Bristol.
