Fox Sports Ohio announced this week that have its Cleveland Cavaliers games will be called in Spanish for the rest of the season. Picking up the Spanish radio call from La Mega 87.7 in Cleveland, FS Ohio will put the audio on the SAP channel allowing the growing Cavs Hispanic fanbase to watch in their native language.
With LeBron James back in Cleveland, it’s only a natural progression for Fox Sports Ohio to make this move, plus it doesn’t cost much to pick up the Spanish radio call. It also saves money on hiring a separate announcing crew and linking up the feeds.
This move began with Friday’s Cleveland-Boston game and will continue through Fox Sports Ohio’s Cavs schedule. So fans will be able to hear Rafael Hernandez-Brito without having to resort to synching up their DVR’s. And Fox Sports Ohio will pick up the Spanish radio call 15 minutes prior to tap until 15 minutes after the final buzzer.
It’s a good move by Fox Sports Ohio to enable the Hispanic fanbase to hear all of the games through their TV’s.
