Carolina Hurricanes reporter Chantel McCabe has been suspended for the month of October after being arrested on a drunk driving charge.

“In light of what happened this past weekend, we think it is best that Ms. McCabe take some time away from the team,” team president Don Waddell said in a brief statement Tuesday. She is suspended through Oct. 30.

McCabe was charged Saturday with driving while impaired in Raleigh, N.C., after being stopped in the 1600 block of Glenwood Avenue, according to the News & Observer.

The 25-year-old hosts the Hurricanes pregame show on FOX Sports Carolinas and is also the team’s sideline reporter. She has been with the Hurricanes since 2012.

The team will not have anyone fill McCabe’s role during her suspension, Canes Country reports.

McCabe also works for the NHL Network and NHL.com. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, she was a news reporter for local Springfield, Massachusetts station WGGB-TV.
