Thom Brennaman drops cell phone, has to creatively retrieve it

During Thursday's Angels-Reds game, an interesting incident happened between innings. Reds play by play announcer Thom Brennaman dropped his cell phone out of the window of the press box, and luckily for Brennaman, it fell on the deck between the press box and the seats far below. A staffer then constructed a complex cell phone retrieval device of tape attached to a pole, and managed to get the phone back to Brennaman.

Could you imagine if the deck wasn't there, and the phone smacked someone in the head? That would have been a pretty hilarious moment, even if it would have caused Brennaman a lot of grief. At least now we know the proper procedures when a broadcaster drops his phone out of the press box…
