It's sort of a weird week to criticize the NFL for holding a Super Bowl outdoors in a cold-weather city for the first time in history, because this past weekend, with snow falling in more than a handful of NFL stadiums, we had the most entertaining and enjoyable NFL Sunday of the year.

But that isn't stopping FOX NFL Sunday analyst Terry Bradshaw from railing against the league's decision to give Super Bowl XLVIII to North Jersey, which just happens to be televised on Fox. 

“Thank you commissioner, thank you Super Bowl committee for putting us in New York,” Bradshaw said on WFAN Wednesday, according to the station's website. “And we all know why we’re in New York, it’s because they were paid for that stupid stadium in New Jersey … By the way, not a gorgeous stadium either.

“It’s freakin’ outside in New York, are you kidding me? Not even New York — New Jersey. It’s not like Minnesota, it’s a dome. It’s not like it’s Detroit, it’s a dome. It’s not like it’s Indy, it’s a dome. I don’t want it to be bad, cause I’m there. I want it to be nice, but I don’t think you should be putting Super Bowls in northern cities in the winter time.”

I tend to agree, although it is odd that people are cool with every game except the Super Bowl being decided with the elements factoring in. Still, if we can avoid it for the most important game of the year, we should. That makes sense. 

But this is also interesting just because it's Bradshaw once again stomping all over something the league is taking a chance with. He did the same thing regarding the London games earlier this year and has always been outspoken in general. 

Roger Goodell has to hate seeing an NFL legend and an employee of one of the league's biggest broadcast partners firing shots at the NFL itself for decisions such as these. Especially considering it's Bradshaw's network televising the game, that may make things a little awkward. But at the same time, FOX is the one paying the owners billions of dollars for the right to broadcast games. The network and its talent don't owe the league anything beyond that… as long as they stay out of any Frontline documentaries.
