NBC Olympics and Yahoo! have announced they will extend their "digital alliance" of content and promotions through the 2014 Winter Games. The partnership gives Yahoo! users access to all of NBC Olympics' highlights and live streamed events. In addition, various Yahoo! products will be showcased during NBC's coverage.

In exchange, Yahoo! will work with NBC Sports to contribute news and analysis for both NBCOlympics.com and Yahoo!.

What does all of this mean for the consumer? It basically boils down to NBC content being available on Yahoo! and Yahoo! content (and promotions) being placed inside NBC broadcasts. The hope would be that the digital content is more informative and more enjoyable with the two companies working together. These partnerships usually don't produce too many hiccups, but keep an eye out for any blatant Yahoo! promotions during NBC coverage. After NBC faced some major streaming issues in London, there's going to be a more focused eye on their online products in Sochi as well.
