It's been an excruciating season for the Chicago White Sox, with the team buried in last place in the American League Central division and with players like Jake Peavy and Alex Rios now on the trading block. On Monday night, things went from bad to worse when Jason Giambi's walk-off homerun off Ramon Troncoso gave the Cleveland Indians a 3-2 victory over the South Siders. You can see how White Sox broadcaster Hawk Harrelson handled the moment above.

That's 33 seconds of good ol' Harrelson silence, for those of you scoring at home.

Now, Hawk going silent for a while after an opposing walkoff is nothing new, but what makes this one memorable is the audible sigh he lets out when he comes back on the mic. To Harrelson's credit, he does manage to pull himself together (though by the sounds of it, begrudgingly) to sign off properly.

So there you have it. Just another chapter in the ever-expanding Hawk Harrelson Homerism Handbook.

Update: Here's the radio call of Indians play by play man Tom Hamilton, which is a SLIGHT CONTRAST from the silence of Hawk's call.  Via WTAM (54 sec mark, thanks @JeffDLowe)…
