As July kicks off, we begin our quest to definitively name the greatest announcing call in the history of sports. We started with a list of 64 (the top 32 of which were seeded) that will be narrowed down to 1 at the end of the month that will earn the greatest of all-time title thanks to your votes. Each day will bring a list of new matchups as we march our way through the tournament. There are certainly some heavy favorites, but also some upsets in the making along the way. Throughout the first round, polls will be open for a day until the next batch of matchups are published.

3) "He is moving like a tremendous machine!"
There has been no more dominating performance in the history of sports than Secretariat's victory at the Belmont Stakes in 1973 to complete his Triple Crown. As Secretariat pulls away from the field, Chic Anderson's voice rises in excitement as he offers the most memorable call in horse racing history.
"Cold… blooded!"
We could have picked a dozen Gus Johnson March Madness calls for our own field of 64, but perhaps Gus' best overall call comes not from the NCAA Tournament but the 2011 Pac 10 Tournament. Isaiah Thomas' buzzer beater won it for Washington, but look for Gus as he gets out of his seat at the announce table.

6) "It's a miracle!"
Some calls are so good they come to define the greatest moments in sports. That was the case with Frank Wycheck's lateral to Kevin Dyson that became known as the Music City Miracle thanks to Titans radio announcer Mike Keith.
"Ding, dong the witch is dead!"
The Pacers-Knicks rivalry of the mid-90s was one of the most intense in NBA history. In Game 7 of the 1995 Eastern Conference semis, Patrick Ewing had one of the most infamous misses in NBA history with this layup attempt at the buzzer. The Pacers radio call from Mark Boyle shows the glee of beating a hated rival and is sure to rub some old salt in the wounds of Knicks fans.

7) "Holy Buckeye!"
The 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes were a team of destiny. No moment made that more clear than Craig Krenzel's totally insane 4th & 1 pass TD pass to Michael Jenkins trailing on the road in the final minutes at Purdue that flew in the face of Tresselball. Brent Musburger said it best – holy Buckeye!

"This is not Detroit man, this is the Super Bowl!"
Tracy Porter and the Super Bowl winning Saints team make their second appearance in the Gowdy Bracket… but this time we hear from the losing side of the equation. The Vikings were a few yards away from a winning field goal in the 2009 NFC Championship Game until Brett Favre decided to Favre it all up. The shocked hometown call from Paul Allen is a classic.

2) "Havlicek stole the ball!"
One of the most replayed calls in NBA history is John Havlicek's steal in Game 7 of the 1965 Eastern Conference Finals. Legendary Celtics announcer Johnny Most provides the soundtrack to the first of two Celtics steals in the tourney field.
"Abby Wambach has saved the USA's life in this World Cup!"
The USA didn't win the 2011 Women's World Cup, losing in PKs to Japan in the Final. However, they did provide the Game of the Year and a moment that continues to live well beyond the life of the tournament. Abby Wambach's equalizer in the dying seconds of extra time called by the voice of American soccer – Ian Darke.
