Yesterday, in an interview with Collider, Friday Night Lights executive producer Peter Berg killed any and all hope that there would be an FNL movie forthcoming:
“There’s not gonna be a movie. We talked about it, some people thought it was a good idea, some didn’t; I’ve come to believe it’s probably not a good idea and I seriously doubt it’s gonna happen.”
While fans of the show might be upset about this news, I am here to help. You don't want your favorite TV series turning into a movie. Or possibly two. Where the second one is SO bad, the only way you can watch it is drunk. I am, of course, referring to Sex and the City. The series ended all wrapped up in a nice package with a pretty little bow and then the two movies swooped in like a toddler ripping the package to shreds. But I digress. Collider goes on to note that the series ended exactly as it should have:
While fans understandably want to spend more time with the Taylors, Friday Night Lights ended on a pitch perfect note with its series finale, which felt like a very fitting sendoff for the characters.
This show was already a spinoff of a movie, which was a spinoff of a book. So it would be a movie spunoff into a show spun back into a movie? No thanks. And, inevitably, messy things would need to happen to make the movie even worthwhile, and after such a perfect ending is that what you really want? I didn't think so!
