In news that is sure to crush fans across the country, Faith Hill will no longer serve as the singer in the opening of NBC's Sunday Night Football, a role she's held since 2007. Hill apparently left the gig on her own accord, but the specifics behind her decision are unknown.
Amazing 2 have been part of SNF – an honor. I've just let everyone there know it's time 2 let someone else rock the open.

Despite Hill being synonymous with the opening, she actually hasn't been the singer for the opening for the entire SNF run as Pink was the singer for the 2006 debut season on NBC. The reaction from football fans has been about what you'd expect.
It'll be interesting to see who NBC gets to replace her, and whether or not the "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" song remains with the new vocalist, or if NBC opts for a full rebrand after Hill made the song her own in recent years.
