On Friday night, the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL took on the Las Vegas Wranglers. Before the game during the national anthem, Bakersfield brought out a REAL LIVE CONDOR, and the appearance of that condor served as a reminder of why live animals at sporting events isn't really a good thing.

The condor behaved for a little bit as it was paraded around the ice, but eventually, it got loose from its handler and started wandering around the ice on its own. When the handler corraled it and rushed back towards center ice, he proceeded to slip (because he's running on ice, you see) and fall right on his ass, condor in tow. The condor then made its way over to the Bakersfield bench and started walking about amongst the players as the announcers lost their minds giggling like children. The saga ended with the condor making its way up the tunnel as the players and coaches looked on, completely bewildered and the announcers laughed their heads off.

Moral of the story: live animals and minor league hockey don't mix.
