Time to open up the sports media notebook once again. A few items to get to. Very interesting week in the inudustry.

Let's start with a couple of stories from USA Today's Michael Hiestand. First, he notes that NBC Sports will be streaming much of its programming on the NBC Sports Live Extra app including all NHL Stanley Cup Playoff games and the Final.

Mike talks with CBS golf announcer-in-exile for The Masters, Gary McCord, who has been off from Augusta so long, that some golfers don't even realize he was banned from the event.

Speaking of The Masterrs, Classic Sports TV and Media looks at how television coverage of Augusta has evolved from the 1950's until now.

Another Masters-related story. Ed Sherman from The Sherman Report interviews Golf Digest's editor about the tweets of veteran writer Dan Jenkins who is covering Augusta again this year.

EPL Talk has learned that NBC Sports Network MLS voice Arlo White is expected to make the jump to the English Premier League when it starts airing the EPL in August.

EPL Talk's sister site, MLS Talk, has announced it will be shutting down after six years of covering the league.

John Ourand from Sports Business Journal wonders if Twitter can actually move the Nielsen ratings meter to the positive.

Interesting story from Richard Sandomir on how MSG Network found an old tape of the 1973 NBA Finals on ABC and manaqed to restore it for an upcoming special on the 40th anniversary of the New York Knicks championship.

A couple of stories regarding Boston Red Sox broadcasters. Chad Finn of the Boston Globe talks with Red Sox Radio Network studio host and fill-in announcer Jon Rish about his refusal to take a pay cut from flagship station WEEI and decision to quit radio altogether.

NESN.com has video of Red Sox TV analyst Jerry Remy saying that he had a relapse of lung cancer that forced him to a chuck of games back in 2009 and led to a case of depression. Remy says he now has a clean bill of health.

To the Albany Times Union and Pete Dougherty who notes that Dave Ryan of CBS Sports Network will be back calling bowling this summer. Ryan had called the Professional Bowling Assocation for ESPN.

Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk says there's a slight chance that the NFL schedule release, originally set for next Tuesday, could be delayed for some unknown reason.

Tom Hoffarth at the Los Angeles Daily News says the actor portraying Jackie Robinson in the highly-anticipated "42" movie decided not to imitate the ballplayer's voice and cadence and went with his own.

Comcast SportsNet Northwest has announced it will pick up the Best of the Dan Patrick Show later this month. Last summer, the CSN affiliates across the country that had picked up DP through Fox Sports Net, quietly dropped FSN programming and consequently, the Dan Patrick Show. It all led to NBC Sports Network signing Dan for its airwaves. And now we've come full circle with this latest development. We'll see if other CSN affiliates pick up the Best of DP show.

And that's going to close the notebook for now.
