If you've been online in the last 24 hours, you've likely seen the news somewhere that goofy Toronto mayor Rob Ford is embroiled in a crack cocaine scandal.  Individuals are in the process of trying to sell the video of Toronto's mayor smoking crack, but Gawker and the Toronto Star have balked at the high asking price.  However, both publications have put out articles reporting to have seen the video, and confidently identifying Ford in it.

But there is one detail buried in the Gawker story that has a connection to the sports world.  Almost as a throwaway in the Ford schadenfreude, this tidbit is mentioned that links a "prominent hockey analyst" to the Toronto celebrity drug ring:

"Rob Ford purchases his crack cocaine from a crew of Toronto drug dealers that service a veritable who's who of A-list…Torontonians? Torontites? Anyway, a lot of prominent people in Toronto purchase and enjoy crack and powder cocaine, and they all buy it from the same folks. The same folks Ford buys it from. Ford's longtime friend, people on his staff, his brother, a prominent hockey analyst, and more."

Prominent hockey analyst, eh?  A crackpot goofball mayor is one thing… but the "prominent hockey analyst" angle brings elements of INTRIGUE and MYSTERY!!  Well, one hockey analyst that once appeared with Ford in a pink suit blasting "left wing pinkos" at a Toronto city council meeting came to mind for many people, but that's way, way too obvious.  It'd be disappointing if the "prominent hockey analyst" mystery went down that easily.

Who could it be?  Several people in the Canadian sports media and the hockey media up north began taking to Twitter to clear their name…

And then of course there was Jay Onrait with a candidate for Funniest Sports Tweet of 2013…
