As if Tim McCarver winning the Ford C. Frick Award and being honored by the Baseball Hall of Fame wasn't enough, I noticed this tidbit in the Hall of Fame live blog of the ceremony honoring McCarver and Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun from Saturday afternoon….

Well played… Well.  Played.  In all seriousness, Tim McCarver deserves the honor for his body of work in broadcasting, but that doesn't take away from the irony of this covergence of legendary forces in the present time.  Joe Morgan of Fire Joe Morgan fame giving the Ford C. Frick Award to Tim "S-T-R-I-K-E" McCarver.

If we ever construct an Awful Announcing Hall of Fame, Joe Morgan presenting the highest honor in baseball broadcasting to Tim McCarver is going in on the first ballot.
