Mark Grace isn’t the first baseball announcer to call a home run, but he may have done it in the most casual manner possible.  With interleague play in full swing, the Diamondbacks were visiting the Texas Rangers.  In the 2nd inning, Grace just blurts from out of nowhere, “Jason Kubel is about to homer.”  Immediately, Kubel rockets a home run to right field.  The way Mark Grace said it, it’s almost like he was making fun of the fact that he was calling a Jason Kubel home run, but it happened anyways.  Calling home runs seems to have a higher than normal success rate, so why don’t more announcers try this?
