With the opening ceremonies of the Olympics starting in just a few short days, NBC is releasing details about how they plan on presenting the games this year, and quite frankly, this could be the best Olympics yet from the perspective of the fan at home.

First off… Twitter. NBC and Twitter have announced an official partnership for the Games. There is the official Olympics account, along with NBC's official Olympics account, and the official US Olympics account. Just looking at tweets from the accounts before the games even begin, this is going to be a huge marketing tool for the events with numerous tweets about the games and athletes participating. NBC will also heavily promote the accounts, along with the #Olympics hashtag. The best part about the partnership is that NBC and Twitter aren't paying each other anything.

Next up, Facebook. NBC has released an Olympics app containing exclusive videos and pictures, as well as polls that will be shared on-air during the events. Speaking of apps, there are a few of them for your smartphone out there, licensed and unlicensed, and they've been talked about in detail at Fang's Bites. The two official NBC ones, including one that offfers live streaming of events, are free.

Finally, Comcast is making the events available on demand on your TV and online. And then, there's NBC's live online streaming of every event requiring a simple, free sign-up for those with cable. Could this be the best Olympics ever to watch from home? Possibly. NBC is going all-in with their Olympics coverage, and this could be a huge boon for the network after a test run four years ago in Beijing.
