Olympian David Boudia has signed on as the second of three judges on a new upcoming ABC competitive diving series starring celebrities. Boudia earned a gold medal at the London Olympics in the 10-meter diving event.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premise of the celebrity diving show is as such:
"It revolves around celebrities performing complicated dives from varying heights with the assistance of a professional diving instructor who helps each participant with weeks of training. Dives can be from as high as 10-meter high boards with increasing levels of complexity, including backflips, somersaults and other gymnastic feats.
Boudia is joined on the judging panel by five-time Olympic medalist Greg Louganis, bringing the series' collective Olympic medal count to seven. Apparently the series Celebrity Splash has broken ratings records in the Netherlands and will appear the U.K., France, and Australia as well. This new show will premiere on ABC here in the United States next year.
I guess I don't know enough about the world of competitive celebrity diving to pass any judgements before it has even aired, but perhaps it might be something worth checking out. In the world of reality and celebrity based television, at least it's a new concept that has a sports tie. Plus, the potential of a celebrity doing this has to be extremely high…
