NBC golf announcer graduates from the Ron Jaworski school of casual swearing

I watched most of the Final Round of The Players Championship on Sunday and still managed to miss this slip in censorship from NBC’s coverage.  As Matt Kuchar strolled down the 18th on his way to the most significant victory in his professional career, playing partner Kevin Na found himself to the right of the fairway on the cartpath.  Na had lost the lead earlier in the day and was well behind at this stage, bothered by constant waggles and backing off the ball that was reminiscent of Sergio Garcia years ago.  Really, Na’s composure over the ball was somewhere between Tin Cup McAvoy and Metta World Peace.  In spite of those issues, Na hit this unreal shot on the 18th.  A fairway wood off the cartpath that somehow rolled onto the green.  That led one of NBC’s broadcasters (not sure who, but it sounds like on-course reporter Roger Maltbie) to drop a very impressed “shit!”  It’s such a versatile word when you break it down – you can express surprise, disappointment, awe, any number of things.  This case isn’t quite the way Ron Jaworski used it last fall, but Jaws has definitely started a trend in the broadcasting world.
