During the Jerry Sandusky trial in Centre County, the full transcript of Sandusky’s interview on Rock Center with Brian Williams was subpoenaed. Upon looking at the transcript, it was apparent that only eight minutes of the full 20 minute interview were aired. Included in those unaired 12 plus minutes was seemingly a confession from Sandusky. Incredibly, NBC decided to never air the part of the interview that featured this quote.

And I didn’t go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I’ve helped.  There are many that I didn’t have — I hardly had any contact with who I have helped in many, many ways.

That… sounds like a confession to me. And NBC decided that part of the interview wasn’t worth airing on Rock Center, or on MSNBC, or even on their website? It’s just a little ridiculous that NBC didn’t let the entire interview, especially THIS interview which concerns a very sensitive incident, air anywhere.  NBC meekly offered this explanation to TMZ, “There were a lot of compelling comments in the original interview but we did not have time to include them all.”

Not enough time is an awful excuse and one that doesn’t fly given all of NBC’s available resources. There is no reasonable explanation for not releasing the entire interview on some platform given that this isn’t just one of the biggest sports scandals of the year, but one of the biggest stories in the entire country.
