Last night the Rockies visited Detroit to take on the Tigers in interleague play. The game went into extra innings with the score tied 4-4 when Colorado put up a neat and tidy 8 spot on the board in the Top of the 10th. The genesis of the 8 run avalanche was this throwing error to first base by Tigers closer Jose Valverde, who allowed 6 of the runs (only 1 earned). After the game, Jim Leyland said of the moment, “Everyone talks about home runs and doubles, but it was a little bunt that caused us all kind of chaos.” That chaos wasn’t limited on the field though, but went to the Rockies booth. As Valverde weakly throws a lofted, errant ball towards the vicinity of first base, Rockies analyst George Frazier can’t hide his laughter.
