News trickled out this weekend that everyone’s friend and CBS’s supremo play by play man Jim Nantz got married to fiancee Courtney Richards.  It’s been quite a long time since Nantz’s personal life made news as he’s been engaged to Richards since 2010 and his messy divorce ended a year earlier with his first wife Lorrie.  While it’s nice for Nantz to find happiness in this occasion, it’s the location and the dignitaries present at his wedding that stand out.

Nantz’s ceremony took place at the famed Par 3 7th hole at Pebble Beach.  Not bad being able to have your wedding take place at perhaps the most picturesque sporting venue in the world.  (Nantz’s reported $8 million yearly salary from CBS helps alleviate some of those costs, I’m sure.)  Then again, the way Nantz poetically fawns over Augusta year after year, I’m surprised he didn’t choose to do the ceremony in historic Butler Cabin.  I hope he had Augusta Chairman Billy Payne there to have that annual forced on-camera conversation about what a remarkable occasion it was.  At the very least, they could have played the Augusta theme music for Nantz.

But that’s not all, check out this guest list.  Former President of the United States George H.W. Bush (that’s the one Dana Carvey played, not Will Ferrell), Arnold Palmer, CBS co-worker Nick Faldo, Phil Mickelson, Robert Kraft, and Tom Brady were among the list of dignitaries that attended.

Ya know, maybe it’s not so bad being Jim Nantz, although I wonder if Mickelson repayed Nantz with a “one for the family” toast at the reception.
