Yes, the NFL season did start tonight in Canton, Ohio with the Hall of Fame Game between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals.  The Saints won 17-10 with Drew Brees leading a touchdown drive that lasted about as long as Usain Bolt's winning 100 meters time.  By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, we were plunged well into the dark abyss known as the NFL preseason.

What better time than the fourth quarter of a preseason game for NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock to loosen up a bit, explore the space in the booth, and show his range as a multi-talented entertainment personality.  It's not like singing sports analysts is anything new… but the disco touch would certainly be an uncharted frontier.  Perhaps next time Mike can follow up this rendition of "Play That Funky Music" with "Funkytown."  What I'd really love to see is Mayock the draft guru analyze Mayock the singer.

Good enthusiasm, solid base, falsetto needs some work and proper coaching, but in the right system he may be worth a flier in the later rounds or as an undrafted free agent.  This kid has some untapped potential.
