Golf Channel analyst David Feherty will be appearing at Saturday's Notre Dame-Navy football game from Dublin, Ireland. Feherty's role will apparently be to "ask fans if they can figure out American football" according to USA Today.

This is an… intriguing  idea from the people at CBS, but I'm really not sure how it's going to come across on TV. It almost seems, dare I say, a little bit hokey. Having an Irish golf reporter ask fans at a football game in Ireland what they know about football? That's certainly unique, but you don't see other networks doing this. Could you imagine ESPN having Ian Darke go to one of the NFL games in London and ask the fans what they know about American football? It just doesn't seem like a great fit to me.

However, if anyone can pull this off and make it anything but bland, it's the charismatic Feherty. His multiple TV and radio appearances have shown that he's a bright, entertaining commentator with a quick tongue. I just have no idea how that's going to work in this situation. It'll be interesting to see, that's for sure. But make sure you're up early… due to CBS's coverage of US Open tennis on Saturday and the time difference involved, the game from Dublin starts at 9 AM eastern.
