So there I am, reading Eating the Dinosaur, thinking, “You know, I should ask Chuck Klosterman for some recommendations because I love all his books and don’t know who else to read.” Hop onto Twitter and notice he mentioned a colleague of his working on that new Bill Simmons project we’ve heard very few details about. Pop back to my inbox to check the tip on that project, and lo and behold ol’ Chuckie himself is confirmed for involvement. If you listen to The BS Report Podcast, and even if you don’t, you probably know that Simmons and Klosterman combo is as natural as peanut butter and jelly. Both are extremely witty pop culture commentators/Celtics devotees.

Not only that, but some nuggets of new info about the site has been released today. The new site will also take on 8-12 full-time writers that will be handpicked by Simmons himself. So we’re looking at top-tier talent here, along with the far reaching marketing capabilities of the almighty Worldwide Leader.

Dan Shanoff summarized his thoughts on the project’s recipe for success:

Personal brand (Bill’s) + Free-flowing Resources (both cash and business back-end) + Marketing Muscle (traditional marketing and an online audience distribution firehose) + Quality/Talent.

Quickish

Sounds reasonable to me. For more details, check out his full breakdown HERE, although we should point out that Bill tweeted-down the rumor that the commenting system would be limited to ~300 approved contributors. Funny, that seemed like an interesting quality-control idea to me. What do you think?
