Whew. That was close. Reports earlier today had Mike Leach leaving the broadcast booth to take his talents south of the border to New Mexico. Thankfully, these reports were erroneous. Leach’s debut, simply put, made Strasburg’s debut earlier this season look pedestrian in comparison. This master wordsmith spoke in his drab, monotone voice that instantly set the scene of a big time college football matchup. Whether it was him describing a team’s effort as “constipated,” or his extended silences when an ordinary color man would add insight. And he just wouldn’t. He just knew what to do. Leach is a natural and definitely has the potential to be a big time player in the prestigious Pammy Awards. His entire debut was written up here, and it includes 7 minutes and 19 seconds of Leach just knocking it out of the park.
Mike Leach will man the mic for the Tulane/Houston showdown this Saturday at 3:30 on CBS College Sports. So, call up your “fat little girlfriend,” and enjoy 3 hours of Leach bringing it strong because if AD’s around the country have their way, this might be one of the last chances you get to experience greatness.
