Jim Nantz has capped off an especially amazing year of broadcasting for an individual by being named by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association the 2007 Sportscaster of the Year. You may remember him starting the year by going through a 63-day stretch calling the Superbowl, March Madness and then Masters.

Nantz was also tabbed to follow the Patriots around the Country for the better part of the NFL season and witnessed one of the most watched NFL games (Indy-NE, 33 million) in years.

The CBS press release doesn’t say who he was up against, but they do offer this tidbit. Nantzy is writing a book!

Nantz is currently writing his first book and in May 2008, Always By My Side – A Father’s Grace and a Sports Journey Unlike Any Other, will hit bookstores across the country. Nantz will tell his personal stories from football, basketball and golf and how he has met people along the way who remind him of the virtues his father instilled in him. The foreword to the book will be written by one of his father figures and dear friend, former President George H.W. Bush.

When does the fun ever stop with Jim Nantz?
