Hawaii has a pretty rabid fan base and a few good people are, or rather were planning to actually leave their homes and attend a Sugar Bowl party. Sounds fun right? Mai Tais and all??? Well FOX has put a halt to the good times. Via the Honolulu Advertiser via SbB…

Fox Sports said it has already “put a stop to one” Sugar Bowl viewing party in Hawai’i where admission was to be charged and will continue to “discourage” the practice as the game approaches.

“We want as many people as possible to watch the Sugar Bowl, it is just the instances where viewing parties are advertised using the logo and marks of the schools and admission is being charged that we want to discourage,” said Dan Bell, a Fox spokesman. Bell said, “our business affairs division has already put a stop to one of these.” He would not name operators.

Creations in Catering’s “Sugar Bowl 2008” at the Dole Ballrooms will change its name to what sales manager Aaron Haynes said will be a “more generic” title, eliminate the use of school logos and not charge an entry fee so as not to conflict with Fox’s dictates after the network sent several cease and desist notices.

The damn man is always trying to keep my good Rainbow fans down. Hang loose Hawaii and don’t let the bastards drag you down.
